Peter Redgrave

I am an interdisciplinary artist and educator based in Baltimore, Maryland. I work alone and together. Both the Archie Shepp (thanks J. Gilgore) and Shelley Turkle (thanks H. Romney) reminders, show that we need vulnerability and love in our actual lives. In my solo work, I explore the post-natural world, vulnerability, and direct energetic exchange between performer and audience. In collaborative work, I value process, conversation and all the messy drudgery of consensus.

I train as a dancer, opening and accessing joints to unlock images from the fibres of the body. I steep in improvisation and score based movement work, often using open adaptable structures to build performances which can be shaped by the spaces where they are presented. I have performed in parks, on the street, in warehouses, theaters, and former butcher shops to name a few.

I am dedicated to collaborative projects. In 2017, I founded the Move Move Collaborative, a ten-day movement intensive where artists from around the country come to Baltimore and create a performance by consensus.

I performed at the High Zero festival, AKIMBO, a festival for site specific dance, Transmodern Festival, and the Philadephia Freeform Festival in 2016. I have worked with artists Lynne Price, Khristian Weeks, Ada Pinkstone, Hoesy Corona, Theresa Columbus, Chuck Bettis, Stephanie Barber, Sarah Hughes, Matthew Williams, Jamal Moore, and many others. I have performed across the North America and Europe.
